Embic maintains a vast and growing warehouse of cognitive response data collected by an electronic platform of well-validated cognitive assessment tools. Normative values derived from this rich database serve as meaningful references across the human life span and also provide insightful priors that lend added precision to many of the company’s cognitive models.

The company’s electronic assessment platform includes a wordlist memory task with immediate and delayed recall, a meta-memory task, a judged comparison task, a recognition task, and an associative memory task. The MCI ScreenTM, an instrument that draws data from this platform and scores them with an algorithm that accurately differentiates MCI from normal aging, has been administered by our clients to nearly two million individuals in wellness programs, clinical care settings, and research studies in the US and Japan. In addition to demographic details, some of these records include diagnoses, comorbid medical conditions, risk factors, lifestyle information, and medications.

Embic has also developed and deployed a host of electronic self-assessment tools for evaluating a comprehensive set of evidence-based risk factors for cognitive impairment, for collecting subjective memory assessments from healthy aging adults, and for evaluating symptoms of depression. From approximately a hundred thousand records in this database, the company has ascertained keen insights into risk prevalence as well as into the various relationships between those risk factors, demographics, lifestyle behaviors, and cognitive health.
